What is Mediation with TheCBBP?
-
Mediation is a process where a neutral third party, or mediator, helps people in a dispute come to a mutually acceptable resolution.
-
The mediator meets with the parties, via Zoom, to help discuss the issues and explore solutions.
-
The mediator's role is to:
-
Listen to both sides without taking sides, create a calm environment and suggest practical steps to help the parties reach an agreement.
-
-
The goals of mediation are to:
-
Clear up misunderstandings, identify underlying concerns and interests and find areas of agreement, and incorporate those areas of agreement into solutions created by the parties.
-
-
At the beginning of mediation, the parties sign a mediation agreement that outlines the mediation procedure and addresses other issues, such as confidentiality and liability. Once both parties sign the mediation agreement, it becomes legally binding.
